There are several ways on how we can battle temptation according to the bible scriptures. But before we proceed in these ways, you have to keep in your mind first that it, not God who is tempting you.
It is not God who is testing you or putting you in uncertain situations. But rather, it is the devil who is tempting you because the devil wants you to do evil acts to disappoint and abandon the teachings of God.
According to James 1:13-18:
13 When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; 14 but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death. 16 Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters. 17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. 18 He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.
So every time you are being tested to do sin, you should remember these things to prevent yourself from committing sinful acts:
1. Pray and ask for help.
If the temptation is in your way, the best thing that you have to do is to pray with all your heart and mind and ask for God’s help. You can also ask for the help of your loved ones to pray for you so you can avoid doing evil things.
2. Avoid things that will make you commit sins.
If you are 100% sure that a certain place, person, or stuff will bring you into a temptation, then avoid it immediately and never think twice or thrice about it. Don’t put yourself in uncertain situations most especially if you personally know yourself and your weakness.
3. Take enough rest and avoid stressing yourself.
If are being attacked by stress, you have to remember that you are more susceptible to temptations. So for you to avoid committing sins, you have to make sure that you will give yourself a favor to get enough rest for you to get a peaceful heart and mind.
Battling the temptations around you is one of the hardest things that you can in your life. But once you have succeeded this, I am 100% sure that God will bless you twice more than what you are expecting.
So be strong always and be contented with what you have now in life to avoid falling into temptation.
