Self Love: Learning to Love Yourself in God’s Way

August 23, 2021
Self Love Learning to Love Yourself

How many times have you heard about the importance of self love? Maybe you no longer care about it because you keep on hearing and reading about it. But to tell you the truth, self love is very important.

Self love is being interpreted in a very wrong way. There’s a negative connotation roaming around this concept. But the truth is, self love is not selfish. Learning to love yourself in God’s way is about accepting ourselves, and taking good care of God’s gifts and blessings. God created us perfectly in His image and designed us just the way we are. And for that, I think it is imperative for us Christians to love ourselves because this is what God wants to happen.

Do you want some proof? Here are some bible verses about self love.

5 Bible Verse About Self Love

  • “And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” – Mark 12:31

  • “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hope, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.” – 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 NIV

  • “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” – John 13:34

  • “Whoever does not love does not know God because God is love.” – 1 John 4:8

  • “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” – Psalm 139:14

How to Love Yourself in God’s Way

Learning to love yourself could be hard. But if you will live your life with God, your faith will not be shaken. You willSelf Love in God's Way not fear what lies ahead. You will not be dismayed by what could go wrong. You will not feel alone and lost because God is with us. God has a good plan for us. God will always uphold us and strengthen us. God will always help us and remind us that we are loved because He is LOVE.

Love Yourself Because God Made You Responsible for Loving Yourself

Yes, you have read it right and clear. God made us responsible for us to become a good stewards of ourselves. He entrusted us with stewardship not just for our children and or spouse. God wants us to care for ourselves. We need to treat ourselves very well because after all, we do not own this life. God owns us. God is the absolute owner of all things.

Our life belongs to Him alone. With that being said, we have to be righteous in the sight of God and obey His command of loving ourselves not according to what we want or of satisfying our own pleasure, but of what’s right and just in the eyes of God.

Learning to Love Yourself is a Long Process

Like I’ve said, it is not easy to love yourself. Even if you have the strongest and unshaken faith, you will still find it hard at some point in your life most especially if you are dealing with lots of personal issues. But again, you have to remember that this is vital. It’s a long process and you have to start practicing the art of loving yourself to make everything a lot easier.

It’s also great to consider getting some help if you think that you cannot handle it alone. It’s not a bad move to reach out to someone. The important thing here is that we make a move to love ourselves because we matter, YOU matter, and God loves you very much.

Advice on How to Improve Christian Relationships

Advice to Improve Christian Relationships

Faith plays a huge role in how couples interact with each other, especially in a Christian relationship. It won’t be as different as other relationships out there but there are unspoken rules once you engaged in a relationship as a practicing Christian. Here are some tips on how to improve your intimate connection in a Christian relationship.

Trust and HonestyChristian Relationship

These two virtues go hand in hand. Always be honest to your partner and trust that they are also doing the same thing. Tell them everything, even the littlest things. Be your most authentic self around them and never hide who you are. Say what you really think and express what you really feel. Be true to your words, “For the word of the LORD is right and true; he is faithful in all he does.” – Psalm 33:4

Date with the intention of getting married

There is a quote that I stumbled upon. It goes, “Dating without the intent of getting married is like going to the grocery store with no money. You either leave unsatisfied or you take something that isn’t yours.” That goes without saying that being in a Christian relationship, commitment is everything. And that the idea is to date long enough to be in unison with the blessings of the Lord.

“And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.” – Colossians 3:14

Spend time apart from each other

Each person still has their own separate identity outside of the relationship. Because of that, spending time away from each other strengthens you and your partner’s individuality and gives time to discover more things about yourselves and each other. Introspection is a great way to have time in strengthening your bond with God, to know yourself better, and increases your chances of opening up to your partner more. This can also be a great way to spend time with your family or plan a trip with your friends. That way, you can also strengthen your bond with other people in your life.

Always boost each other up

No one is perfect but God made us with a purpose. You and your partner will always have flaws but make sure that you see them as a part of who you are. Flaws are what make us unique. See your partner’s imperfections as the things that make them perfect, as an individual and as a lover. Boost your relationship by telling them what you like about them and though they have flaws, there’s no one you’re rather in a relationship with.

Put God in the center of your relationship

Being in a Christian relationship meant having a connection with someone who loves God as much as you. As the bible mentioned, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength” (Mark 12:30). As a Christian that is in a relationship, you have your responsibilities to restore your credibility and serve the Lord. You can practice and do devotions together, attend mass and pray together, and in everything you do, keep in mind that the Lord is the ultimate reason why you are together. If you put God in the center of your relationship, everything will fall into its perfect place. Trust Him and you’ll see the beauty of having Him in life.

A Prayer for a lasting Christian relationship

Dear God, I thank you for giving me the relationship that I deserved. I will never forget that my ultimate relationship is with You and that Your love for me is eternal. Give me your blessings to love the person I am with and to be with them for a long as You allow. Let me be an instrument to teach them how to love you and have more faith in You and Your words. Above all, please let my relationship be a testimony of your greatness, your goodness, your love, and your mercy. I pray this in the name of your son, our savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

[WARNING] Netflix TV Show “Paradise P.D.” Airs Blasphemous Content

May 20, 2021
Netflix TV Show Paradise P.D.

Just recently, the Netflix TV show and animated series “Paradise P.D.” created an online buzz when they aired a blasphemous cartoon of Jesus executing a mass shooting. The scene is very disturbing most especially when they’ve inserted the pornographic scene of Jesus committing immoral acts with two sexy women.

Netflix TV Show Paradise P.D. BlasphemyThe blasphemous scene and actions can be watched on the 4th episode of “Paradise P.D.” entitled “Trigger Warning”. The episode is about convincing the characters Kevin and the Mayor to enact the gun laws and how guns can make a better world. This Netflix show clearly disrespects and trashes the holy image of Jesus Christ.

The episode from the Paradise P.D. TV show deliberately made a grave offense not just to Jesus but to the whole population of Christianity. As the head of the NRA in the TV show continues to share his “positive” thoughts and ideas about the legalization of guns, he told the characters to “imagine a world where Jesus had guns.”

As he told these remarks, the sexually explicit content started to roll out.

Netflix TV Show With Blasphemous Content: More Details

The horrific depiction of Jesus in the animated TV show started as the NRA head played a film showing Jesus in the cross while swearing. As the offensive language continues, the nails in the cross magically transformed into guns. Then the animated Jesus in the TV show point the guns to the guards and shoot them all to death.

After that act, the two sexy female worshippers entered the scene as they were hugged and sexually kissed by the animated Jesus in the TV show.

Netflix Unrealistic Animated Series

The whole script is truly off the wall and totally unrealistic. Why did Netflix allow such content? This is a complete display of evilness and disrespect to the faith of many Christians worldwide.

Jesus should not be mocked nor be used when making pointless remarks. Jesus is not an object or a fictional character that should be used on parodies and non-sense shows.

The profanity made on this TV show should now end. Netflix should be careful next time because young people are more expose online most especially now that we are in the era of the COVID-19 pandemic. Mass shooting, porno, and profane language shouldn’t be used in series just to deliver the message to its people.

There are tons of ways to do this. But lambasting the image of Jesus is obviously not the solution. Let us not forget to put a boundary between religion and politics. We may have the freedom to do what we want and express ourselves in different ways, but let us not lose the sense of respect most especially to many Christians and religions in the world.

“Show proper respect to everyone. Love your Christian brothers and sisters. Fear God and respect the King.” – 1 Peter 2:17

Special Prayer for Moms

Prayer for Moms

Moms have a very special place in everyone’s heart, so let’s make time not only to celebrate them during this month of May, as we have celebrated Mother’s Day but to dedicate prayers for moms. Their caring nature makes it possible for us to cherish them, especially because they love us unconditionally. They give us all the best in life, and what is a better way to show our gratitude than lifting their name to the Lord? The best way of reciprocating their love is by telling Him how much we care for the most important women in our lives. Here’s a list of prayers for mothers for every circumstance.

HealthPrayer for Mother's Day

Dear God, I pray for my mom’s sound health, and that she will never get sick. As I remember the days that she has taken care of me, protect my mom against anything that will harm her way. I pray for her life and that she can spend more time praising Your name. May the words from the bible and Your power heal her from all the wounds, physical and those that cannot be seen; heal her from the pain of the past, hurt of the present, and the worries of the future. I ask this in the name of Your loving son, Amen.

“Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security.”Jeremiah 33:6

My Lord, my mom has been taking care of me for as long as I can remember. That has got to be a lot of work and I know that sometimes it causes her to be weary. Lift the burden from her shoulders for times that she can’t take it. She’s strong because You made her that way but I am asking Your grace to lessen her worries for her to live a sound life. I lift this prayer in the name of Your son, Jesus Christ, Amen.

“I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.”Psalm 9:1

Dear God, I thank you most especially for my mother. Thank you for blessing me with a magnificent woman, courageous and kind. Her warmth will overcome any storm that will pass my way. Thank you for giving her the strength to surpass any challenges that she may face and thank you for making me appreciate the smallest things when it comes to her. But most importantly, I am thankful for giving me a mother who draw me to Your words as a kid and is constantly teaching me about Your ways. I pray that my mother will also be grateful to me as much as I am to her. I ask this through Your name, Amen.

Almighty Father, forgive me for every wrongdoing that I did, and I pray that You do the same for my mother. She is a very kind soul but is not perfect, as all human beings are. I ask for your forgiveness in times that she wasn’t able to hold herself and her temper. Help her to be compassionate and to love even her enemies. Teach her to be mindful of her actions and the consequences they may bring, and most of all, teach her how to forgive. Amen.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.”Ephesian 2:8

Dear God, I lift up a prayer for my mother to give her strength and courage. She has gone through a lot but she always has so much to give. She loves and helps me unconditionally and has been my strength during my darkest time. I pray for her to believe in You and to have a more powerful prayer life since talking to You makes a difference in one’s perspective and actions. Lend her strength to also face her worries and what the future holds. We trust this in Your name, Amen.

“As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you.” – Isaiah 66:13

My mother is a lot of things. She constantly takes care of me like how the Lord takes care of everything. I will always lift a prayer for my mom to you, my Almighty Father. Please remain by my mother’s side through everything. I will trust Your ways, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

How to Keep Your Faith Strong in Tough Times

April 23, 2021
How to Keep Your Faith Strong in Tough Times

Life is full of ups and downs that it affects how to keep your faith strong in tough times. There are some days when you feel like you can take on anything. Some days, you just want to curl into a ball and rest. Like life, our faith can also fluctuate.

For the most part of our life, our faith acts as our foundation in keeping a positive outlook. Personally, it gives me calm and assurance knowing that someone powerful is out there, looking out for me. It keeps me at peace that  I am in good hands even in tough times. My faith reminds me that going through something negative will help me come out stronger. However, there are days that I forget about this; days where the anxieties win and the negativities get in. Still, I need to keep my faith intact. How do I do this?

Clear your mind and practice mindfulnessKeeping Your Faith in Tough Times

Step back and look at yourself in the mirror. Ask yourself why you are worrying about something that has not happened yet. Be in the present moment. Pay closer attention to what is in front of you and not to what lies ahead. You can do activities like guided meditations or yoga to clear your mind. Think about what you have accomplished so far. Have faith in God and be thankful to the Lord that you’re here, in the present, and you have made it this far.

Keep Your Faith by Reading the Bible

The key to keeping a strong faith in the Lord is trusting in His words. During tough times, every scripture in the bible will give you a deeper understanding and meaning of why things are happening and what it will teach you. Stories in the bible are written for the purpose of showing you that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. There is a lesson in everything.

You can also choose the life verse that will give you the feeling like God is talking directly to you. Reading the bible will make you feel as if He’s saying that He understands what you’re going through and He will always be by your side.

Put your trust in Him

The Lord will never give you any hardships and struggles that you cannot surpass. These tough times, as trying as they might be, are life lessons that the Lord set to test you, to let you know that He trusts you. All the struggles that you experience in life will prepare you for something far greater in the future.

He believes in what you can do and you are given these challenges in life because He knows that you will get through them. Keeping your faith means putting your trust in Him that no matter what life throws at you, He is your salvation.

Praise and Worship

Another way on how to keep your faith strong in tough times is to worship the Lord. Go to the place where you can feel His love the most, this might be the church, a worship house, or an altar at your house. Lift up His name! He, the almighty and all-knowing God.

Praising Him will give you a sense of clarity and belongingness. It will show you light and bring you peace. It will reveal that you are on the right path. The Lord is with you all the time. Whatever tough times it might be, you can concur it with the presence of God.

Keep your faith strong by sharing it with other people

Building your faith back on challenging times means being there for others who might be going through the same situation. As the Lord said, “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” –  1 Thessalonians 5:11

Be the light in someone else’s dark path, just as the Lord is in yours. Be kind and helpful without thinking of something in return. What we do for others reflects how we practice the teachings and the words of God. The Lord wants us to give and He will bless us back tenfold.

Surround yourself with like-minded individuals who share the same passion for lifting up the name of the Lord. Being with people who practice the same belief and trust God as much as you do will help you in keeping your faith in Him. Consider MLK (Martin Luther King) and how he practiced his faith to put his community on the right path.

Constant prayer

The best way to keep your faith strong is to build a personal relationship and connection with the Lord. Tell Him all your worries and all your desires. Reach out to Him not only in times of need, but also when something good happened, or when you feel happy. Remember Him not only on the days that you are down, but confide in Him even with the little things.

Talk to Him! In the morning when you wake up, during your busy day, and before you go to bed. We might not hear God’s voice clearly, but He responds and speaks to us in different ways. All we have to do is focus on his signs, his signals, and the messages he puts on everyday situations. He will never abandon those who seek out His help and those who call out His name.

Your faith can falter and waver anytime you are faced with something difficult. These situations may make you think that you can’t get out of them. You might feel fear or doubt. Because of this, you might forget that the Lord is with you all the time. Going through challenging times sometimes makes you question your faith and your connection with Him. But these tips on how to keep your faith strong in tough times will help you find that connection back.

Be reminded that the Lord has plans. He showed His love for humanity in too many ways that we lost count. Given that, we should always keep in mind that whatever we are experiencing are tests that may be future testimonials on how He is able to touch and change our lives for the better. Keep your strong faith in Him and He will help you get through anything.

Faith in the Bible: How to Choose Your Life Verse

Faith in the Bible How to Choose Your Life Verse

I have been a constant believer and reader of teachings in the bible for years now. There are verses and passages that I have liked throughout these years. But there really is a verse that I personally hold dear to my heart, bible teachings that I believe in and constantly practice in life – my life verse.

What is a Life Verse?Faith in the Bible How to Choose Your Life Verse

A life verse is a passage or a verse in the bible that you can say is your favorite verse. It should be something that resonates with you and connects with your soul in a special way as if it is purposely written for you.

It is maybe a verse that completely describes what you are feeling or a certain situation that you’re in, or a passage that depicts one of your experiences or memory. Whatever your reason is, a life verse is something that strengthens your relationship and faith in God.

Life Verse in the Bible: My Quick Backstory

My connection with God was never constant. There are times that even I question my own belief and that makes me in a love and hate relationship with my faith.

During one of my phases that I was not connected with God and where my life seems like it was falling apart, I went to my favorite park where there is a playground. I was mainly there to cry my heart out when I saw writings on one of the slides.

Psalms 37:4 Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

That moment struck me that everything in my life happens for a reason. All that we are facing, may it be hard at times, will prepare us for a greater scheme of things.

This verse taught me that I can find joy in all trials that I may face. This verse will constantly remind me that God has plans for all the things that I desire, that there is a timeline for everything, that God will give me what I deserve, as long as I keep my faith in Him.

How to Choose Your Life Verse in the Bible

1. Constantly read the bible

Since there are a lot of verses to choose from, read the bible constantly and narrow down the verses that speak to you. It can be a verse that is popular or something that isn’t much so. The important thing is to make this verse special to you and it should resonate with your soul.

2. Research your chosen life verses in the bible

When you’ve narrowed down all the verses that you like, research about it. Look up the different translations of these verses to further understand their meanings. You can also note who said the verse and who it is directed to, the scene when it is said, and the complete meaning of the verse.

3. Easy to memorize verses

Pick a verse in the bible that is easy for you to understand, remember, and memorize since you will be upholding the values of this life verse. Choose something that you can easily speak of when asked.

4. Be careful of taking the verse out of context

Here is why researching about the verse is important. Some may take them out of context so choose a verse that is widely understood and would not give less meaning other than what it is intended to be.

5. You can have several life verses and it can change anytime

Some life verses are constant but they can also change over time as it depends on what you are feeling and what your situation is.

Your life verse should be a personal experience. It can be any verse in the bible, however long or short, be it popular or not, a life verse is something that will keep you grounded and constantly have faith in the Lord.

What is Holy Week and What Should Christians Do During this Time?

March 29, 2021
Holy Week

For Christians, Holy Week is very important. They use this sacred time to reflect on Jesus’ journey including the final days of His life—death, burial, and resurrection. Holy Week begins on Palm Sunday and resumes until Easter Sunday or also called Jesus Christ’s Resurrection.

Holy Week is one of the best times to sit down and create a special bond with our Lord Jesus Christ. This is a sacred time for us to have a deep conversation with Him and reflect on the failings that we have done as human beings. Holy Week is a “spiritual time” for Christians.

Both Catholics and Protestants are using this time to remember the life and death of Jesus. So why is Holy Week so important for many religions?

Holy Week is also called Passion Week. It is called Passion because of Jesus’ Passion to sacrifice Himself in order to pay for the sins of His people. To see the biblical meaning of Holy Week, you can refer to the following Bible books and chapters: Matthew chapters 21-27, John chapters 12-19, Mark chapters 11-15, and Luke chapters 19-23.

As Christian, we are all called to be “passion” with our spiritual life. We should all be willing to passionately do a sacrifice everything just like what Jesus did for us. We don’t need to die or let ourselves be in harm to follow Him. All we have to do is follow His way and proclaim the Gospel—the message of Jesus’ death and resurrection.

Holy Week and Meaning of Jesus’ Death and Resurrection for Christians

The resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ is sending us a clear message of hope and faith. It shows to us the truth of life that no matter how deep is our suffering or struggles in life, there’s always hope and that hope will lead us to what we have asked and prayed for.

We may feel like Jesus Christ is not listening to our prayers. We sometimes assume that He is not with us and that He is allowing us to suffer and be in pain. But we all know the truth. God is always with us. We are not alone. The pain you feel today, is the strength you feel tomorrow.

Today might not be your day, but tomorrow can be. What Jesus Christ wants us to do is to just believe in Him. Always trust that His timing is perfect and better than yours. He is present all the time. So be patient and take downtime as a blessing to do enough preparations. And when the time is right, just remember that God will make things happen.

Use this Holy Week as an opportunity to ponder and thank God for all the blessings that you and your family are receiving. Remember to trust the process and be patient. All things are possible if you put your TRUST in HIM.

Happiness is a State of Mind

December 15, 2019
Happiness is a State of Mind

Life is full of numerous challenges that often cause stress and anxiety to a person. They feel that they can no longer stand all the issues they’re facing. In some cases, individuals think they have the worst job in the world. Others imagine they have the worst illness; they really feel that no person can understand what they’re going through.

What is a state of mind? A state of mind is a momentary psychological state, the emotional and intellectual material of our mind at a particular time.

Generally, it’s a mix of feelings and thoughts, which is developed by exactly how we really feel inside. This is a result of how we respond to our outside world, in different scenarios, with different individuals, places, and so on.

A state of mind can be created by external aspects that have an impact on our lives.

Woman Open Arms

Trust Him

We always assume that we know what is best for us. Numerous times we attempt to step in with our two cents to discover that when we try to change our current situation, we make things even worse. After that, we regret what we have actually done and hope we could make things go back the way they should be.

On a spiritual note, among the lessons we need to learn is accepting God’s Will. Life would certainly be a lot less complicated if we could accept that God recognizes what is better for us. If we can take a look at the moments in our lives that we hindered God’s Will, we will eventually realize that we messed things up extremely on our own and deeply prayed to him to return things the way they were.

The next time we think that God is not listening to us and things are getting out of control, we just need to sit back, loosen up and take a deep breath. We should give God an opportunity to let things happen according to his will. If we contemplate, we would certainly find that if God had actually paid attention to our grievances and allow us to do things our way, things might not have been in our best interest in any way.

Happiness is a Mindset

Happiness is a mindset. If we believe that God is refraining from what is best for us, we will certainly be miserable. If we understand that we are living according to what God yearns for us and that God is giving us what is best, we would be more than happy and contented.

A Mother’s Love

A Mother’s Love

There is always that one person in your life that you can trust. That person who brought you into this world and loves you unconditionally. A love that is valuable and does always exist. The love and care are like a beautiful rose, but a rose that does not perish. Absolutely nothing subdues the warmth that separates you when a mother’s hug is received. Mother’s are always there in your joyous moments, but most notably in your saddest to provide sunlight to your rainy eyes … Continue reading

The Power of Forgiveness

December 15, 2019
The Power of Forgiveness

The power of forgiveness is indeed life-changing.  But sometimes it is hard to forgive someone most especially if the case left a big scar in your wholeness.

Whether it is a conflict with a person or a misconstruing with your loved one, or some enduring grievance with your close friends or colleagues, the pain and or anger inside of you creates a big impact on you a lot more deeply than you can visualize. It is hard to let go of something like this. It is easier to say for someone to just let go of it and forgive the person. But the truth is, forgiving someone is one of the hardest things that you can do.

How can you mend a situation like this?

Is it really possible to forgive someone easily? Well, if you will ask me, my answer is torn between yes and no. Yes, because if you will put God in the center of your life, the process of forgiving will be much easier to handle. No, because sometimes our ego is killing us. Our pride is hindering us to forgive others. We have our reasonings, but sometimes our reasons are becoming unreasonable.

We can allow ourselves to feel the pain and process the whole situation in a given time frame. But you shouldn’t prolong the pain. The way you handle the pain will not make you stronger. Instead, it makes you weaker and that includes your faith. Just like what they say, “You’ll never know how strong your heart is until you learn to forgive who broke it.” We want to convince you that forgiving is not a sign of weakness. Forgiving is healing. And forgiving someone is a sign that you accept the fact that people can make mistakes.
